Class of 2017 Outcomes: Kari Hurlbutt Joins the British Consulate General in NYC


With another successful commencement behind us, recent High Point University graduates are preparing to commence prestigious career paths around the world at Fortune 500 companies, international service programs, public school systems, top-tier law, medical and graduate school programs, and many other esteemed organizations thanks to their journey at HPU. Here’s a glimpse of one extraordinary senior from the Class of 2017:

Name: Kari Hurlbutt

Hometown: Kendall, New York

Major: Hurlbutt graduated with majors in International Relations, Political Science and History May 6.

Post-graduation plans: Hurlbutt joins the British Consulate General in New York City as an entry clearance assistant in the UK Visas and Immigration.  division. In her role, she processes visa applications for people traveling to the U.K., including visitors, students and workers. 

How HPU helped you get there: “HPU allowed me the opportunity to grow as a person and as a professional both on campus and through programs such as study abroad. I still use the skills and experiences I learned everyday.” 

Most impactful mentor at HPU: “Dr. Frederick Schneid and Dr. Mark Setzler” 

Most impactful moment at HPU: “Preparing to study abroad, and the experience itself” 

Advice for underclassmen: “Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there, have confidence.”
