DeBell Family Establishes HPU Scholarship

HIGH POINT, N.C., Dec. 14, 2017 – John and Pam DeBell of Centreville, Virginia have established a student scholarship at High Point University to support the education of future leaders.

The DeBells have a student at HPU and are lifelong entrepreneurs. In 1981, John DeBell founded Clippers, Inc., where he served as CEO and Pam DeBell served as CFO. Thanks to their commitment and belief in the entrepreneurial spirit, the venture grew to be a multi-million dollar, award-winning commercial landscape business that serves the Washington, D.C. area and employs 160 people.

The DeBells recently sold Clippers, Inc. and are assisting in the transition to new ownership.

The family, who also has children that graduated from Wake Forest University and the University of Richmond, is involved at HPU in many different ways. Recently, John DeBell visited with HPU business students to share his life experience and knowledge. The DeBells also hosted a reception for new HPU students who are from the Northern Virginia area.

“We believe in HPU,” said John DeBell. “Our daughter has received a great education there. Dr. Qubein is a man of great integrity and has used his passion to build an impressive university.”

“The DeBells have invested in our university in many different ways,” says Dr. Nido Qubein, HPU president. “Their commitment to HPU reflects their belief in our values and our ability to prepare students for the world as it is going to be.”
