HIGH POINT, N.C., Dec. 1, 2017 – High Point University recently welcomed five new staff members during the month of November. They are as follows:
Dr. Richard “Trey” Brindle joins HPU’s Department of Physical Therapy as a postdoctoral fellow. Brindle’s responsibilities include expanding the running-related biomechanics research in the Human Biomechanics and Physiology laboratories. Additionally, he will develop skills in biofeedback interventions and work with faculty and students on research projects.
Brindle has experience working on multiple research projects as a research assistant and Ph.D. student at Drexel University’s Physical Therapy department. There, his doctoral research focused on learning more about biomechanical risk factors for overuse injuries in recreational runners. He has a master’s degree in biomechanics from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and a PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences from Drexel University.
Matthew Vera joins HPU as a campus concierge. He will serve as a building manager for the Congdon School of Health Sciences. His responsibilities include assisting visitors and students, as well as responding to building concerns as they arise. Vera brings experience from working with public parks, serving as a teaching assistant and coaching high school sports. Vera holds a degree in geography, urban planning and transportation.
Margaret Wedde joins the department of Physician Assistant Studies as a department administrator. Her responsibilities include facilitating purchases, monitoring the department’s budget and coordinating all department events. Wedde, who has experience as a health science program administrator, has a bachelor’s degree in management and marketing and a graduate certificate in training with technology.
Dylan Denning joins HPU as a campus concierge. She will manage the desk in the R.G. Wanek Center. Denning serves as a resource to students, parents, faculty, staff and visitors to the university by facilitating space and event reservations, creating community connection emails and updating various website resources. She has experience in retail, customer relations, sales and marketing. Denning holds a bachelor’s degree in public relations and sociology.
Michelle Hilburn joins HPU’s Department of World Languages as an administrative assistant. Her responsibilities include providing support to the World Languages, Literatures, Cultures and Political Science departments and the Office of Research Administration. Hilburn, who holds a bachelor’s degree in religious studies, has previous administrative assistant experience in both a church and auniversity setting.
