HPU’s Kappa Delta, Family Service of the Piedmont to Co-Host Superhero Dash

HIGH POINT, N.C., March 7, 2018Lace up your sneakers and grab your capes for the fifth annual Superhero Dash at High Point 

The event will offer face painting, food trucks, crafts and bounce houses.

University on March 18. The 5K run/walk and 1K fun run event is co-hosted by HPU’s Kappa Delta sorority and the Guild of the Family Service of the Piedmont.

The Superhero Dash raises awareness and support for Family Service of the Piedmont’s programs and services for child victims of abuse, including domestic violence shelters, children’s advocacy centers, individual and family counseling and in-home therapy. Annually, funds raised at the event total nearly $25,000.

“I love working with my sisters to plan our biggest event, and we’re excited to hold this year’s race at Vert Stadium,” says Mallory Roy, president of Kappa Delta sorority. “Family Service of the Piedmont uses the money we raise to support women, children and families. Our goal is to support this organization and to raise awareness for Prevent Child Abuse America.”

Participants are encouraged to dress up as their favorite superhero. Capes and masks will be given to all fun run participants and the 5K runners will receive themed t-shirts. The event also will include activities and attractions such as food trucks, face painting, bounce houses and more.

Super Hero Dash participants are encouraged to wear their favorite super hero attire, while all fun run participants will receive a cape and mask.

Online registration is open until March 16 atwww.safeandhealthyfamilies.com/SuperHeroDash/. There is a “Virtual Runner” option for those who can’t participate on race day but wish to help raise funds. On the day of the event, registration will begin at 1:30 p.m. at Vert Stadium leading up to the fun run at 2:30 p.m. and the 5K at 3 p.m.

Event co-chairs Misty Holt and Shelly Edgerly from the Guild of Family Service of High Point hope for more than 200 participants this year.

“We truly enjoy working together with the Kappa Deltas from High Point University to raise money to help identify and prevent child abuse here in the Piedmont,” Edgerly says.
