How HPU helped you get there: “HPU gives you all the tools to be successful and achieve your goals. As a senior, I am still amazed by the opportunities there are for personal and professional growth at every turn. There are so many opportunities for leadership in student organizations and clubs geared toward business majors. Professors are always willing to assist in any way they can to allow you to achieve your career goals, whether that’s a mock interview in their office or connecting you to an internship opportunity.”

Most impactful mentor at HPU: “Professor Kathy Elliott, director of the Belk Center for Entrepreneurship, was one of my biggest mentors at HPU because of her immense knowledge of the business world and her dedication to helping students grow. She was the Entrepreneurship Club’s advisor when I was president of the club. We shared countless meetings in her office where she taught me to be a team player and how to grow a club that allows future entrepreneurs to reach their goals. Those meetings will be some of my best HPU memories. She would come in early in the morning just to have meetings with me and give me career advice. I can’t thank her enough.

Also, Larry Quinn, director of the professional selling program, was priceless to me during my time at HPU. He convinced me that a career in sales was right for me and played a major role in helping me get a job offer. I spent a lot of time in his office running through interview questions and perfecting my answer to the question, ‘Tell me about yourself.’ He always motivated me to push myself and reach my goals. I know I am one of many students that he has helped to get a job offer, but I was always treated as if I was his number one priority. His determination to get students their dream jobs is incredible.”

Most impactful moment at HPU: “My most impactful moment at HPU was joining Kappa Delta Sorority. I love that HPU provides so many organizations for students to join, allowing them to gain real-world, professional experience and grow as a leader and team member. Greek life allowed me to surround myself with amazing women, gave me many mentors and gave me the chance to be a mentor, as well. While interviewing with potential employers, my involvement in my sorority was a major topic of conversation, and I know the life skills I acquired while leading a sorority will play a huge role in my career.”

Advice for underclassmen: “Take advantage of every opportunity HPU has to offer. Go see all the speakers that come to campus, get involved in clubs, make an appointment at the Office of Career and Professional Development and never be afraid to befriend your professors – you won’t regret it!”
