HIGH POINT, N.C., Sept. 25, 2018 – High Point University has been recognized as a 2018-19 Career Development College of Distinction.
HPU was awarded the recognition based on the three criteria: integrated career exploration and preparation; accessible programs and training; and career-centered staff. This is a newly developed recognition by Colleges of Distinction that highlights HPU’s commitment to equipping students with life skills necessary to succeed throughout their career.
The ranking also reflects data about the success of HPU graduates – 96 percent of graduates begin their careers or go on to graduate school within six months of completing their HPU education.
“Our graduates not only find employment quickly, but they also find meaningful careers because HPU cares for the whole student, for all its students and from each student’s first day to graduation and beyond,” says Dr. Stephanie Crofton, HPU’s vice president of experiential learning and career development. “Our students receive personalized attention from teachers, success coaches, academic advisers and career and professional development advisers.”
In August, HPU was named to the Colleges of Distinction for the eighth consecutive year. HPU was also recognized for its education and business programs in the Stout School of Education and Earl N. Phillips School of Business.
Earlier this month, HPU was named number one twice in the 2019 edition of “America’s Best Colleges,” published annually by U.S. News and World Report. In the 2019 list, HPU ranks No. 1 Best Regional College in the South for the seventh consecutive year. HPU also ranked No. 1 Most Innovative College in the South for the fourth consecutive year. HPU was also recognized for a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching, internship opportunities, first year experiences and best value schools.
