HPU Announces New Hires

HIGH POINT, N.C., Oct. 2, 2018 – High Point University welcomed three new staff members during the month of September. They are as follows:

Kenisha Syphertt joined the Office of Student Life as a resident director. She supervises resident assistants and supports students living in the York and Point Place residences on campus. In working with students, she provides individual care, intentional conversations and developmental opportunities. Previously, she worked in a university setting as a graduate assistant in residential life and as a marketing assistant for athletics. She also founded a social campaign supporting college women in transitioning to the workplace. Syphertt received her bachelor’s degree in mass communication and her master’s degree in sports administration.

 

Nicola Aguilera joined the Office of Student Life as a clinical counselor. She provides individual counseling and support services to students, including consulting with faculty and other departments to assist in providing care for students. This includes supporting students through challenges, as well as providing educational resources regarding mental health and well-being. She has prior experience in this field working with both adults and adolescents. Aguilera received her master’s degree in agency counseling, and is also a licensed professional counselor with the North Carolina Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and a nationally certified counselor.

 

Belinda Bailey joined the Office of Institutional Advancement as a data analyst. She performs data maintenance and research related to constituent biographical information for the office and manages data that enables the university to stay connected with alumni, donors, families and friends. Before joining HPU, Bailey was an adjunct instructor and professional tutor at Guilford Technical Community College. Her experience has included running an e-commerce and retail business, managing programmers and database developers at Ciba, and teaching. She has also published in magazines and has had her work syndicated in newspapers. She has a bachelor’s degree and additional graduate work in math, and a master’s degree and Ph.D. in theology.
