HPU to Test Sirens and Emergency Notification System

HIGH POINT, N.C., Jan. 22, 2019 – High Point University will hold a routine test for its sirens and emergency notification system at 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 23. The university performs a full test at the beginning of each semester as a part of its emergency preparedness program.

During the test, a text message, email and phone call is sent to all members of campus in addition to broadcasts across campus phones, computers, electronic message boards and internal mass notification systems. Students, faculty and staff are automatically enrolled in the system at the beginning of each year.

“Emergency preparedness never ends,” says Jeff Karpovich, CPP, CHPA, CSSP, chief of security and transportation at HPU. “We continually test, evaluate and update our systems to make sure everything is working as designed. One of the most important elements in emergency response is communication. Tests like this further our commitment to keep the campus and surrounding community safe, informed and connected.”
