Sigma Nu Raises More Than $11,000 for the American Heart Association

HIGH POINT, N.C., April 30, 2019 – High Point University’s Sigma Nu fraternity hosted the fourth annual Car Show on April 27 and raised more than $11,000 for the American Heart Association.

HPU’s Sigma Nu pulled in a crowd for this year’s fourth annual Car Show that benefited the American Heart Association.

“Working with the American Heart Association has been a great experience,” said Paul Calkins, Sigma Nu president. “We started our relationship with AHA to help a brother, Jack Boyd, after losing his father to heart disease. This two-year partnership has brought awareness not to just our chapter, but to the university and the community surrounding it.”

The event featured a variety of sport and classic cars for the community to enjoy. Sigma Nu members handed out awards for best in show, top import, new American, top European, classic American, top exotic, top bike, top truck and off-road vehicles.

Earlier this year, Sigma Nu was recognized by the American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association for their fundraising efforts.

“Although we received the recognition earlier this year for our philanthropic efforts, our members know that it is important to volunteer and raise money without recognition,” said Calkins. “We cannot thank our donors, sponsors and attendees enough for their contributions.”
