HIGH POINT, N.C., Sept. 3, 2019 – High Point University has named leadership speaker and best-selling author Mark Sanborn, president of leadership development idea lab Sanborn & Associates, as Leadership Expert in Residence.
Sanborn joins other global leaders in residence who serve as mentors for HPU students. This includes Netflix Co-Founder Marc Randolph, HPU’s Entrepreneur in Residence; Apple Co-Founder Steve Wozniak, HPU’s Innovator in Residence; ABC News’ Byron Pitts, HPU’s Journalist in Residence; Dallas Mavericks Chief Executive Officer Cynt Marshall, HPU’s Sports Executive in Residence; former Boston Globe Sports Columnist Bob Ryan, HPU’s Sports Reporter in Residence; and Scott McKain, best-selling author, business consultant and trainer.
In addition to authoring eight books and more than two dozen audio and video training programs, Sanborn has shared his expertise with audiences on an international scale through more than 2,600 presentations, covering every state in the United States and 14 countries. His programs are also taught by Crestcom International in 90 countries.

Sanborn is recognized throughout the world for his leadership. Most recently, he was ranked No. 5 in Global Gurus World’s Top 30 Leadership Professionals for 2019. Prior to that, he was honored with the Cavett Award, the highest honor the NSA bestows on its members, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the speaking profession. Sanborn holds the Certified Speaking Professional designation from the National Speakers Association (NSA) and is a member of the Speaker Hall of Fame.
Additionally, his book, “The Fred Factor: How Passion in Your Work and Life Can Turn the Ordinary Into the Extraordinary” is an international best-seller and was on the New York Times, Business Week and Wall Street Journal best-seller lists.
