HIGH POINT, N.C., Sept. 20, 2019 – High Point University’s Stout School of Education will be hosting its annual community LEGO Showcase event, “Come Build with Us: Experience STEM Engineering,” from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Nov. 2. The free event will be held at the HPU Community Center on Mall Loop Road.
Annually, HPU’s Stout School of Education faculty and students transform the HPU Community Center into a LEGO learning lab. Students, teachers and parents are invited to participate and can register at http://www.highpoint.edu/education/legoshowcase/.
The free event for the community has attracted more than 1,000 people, giving children in grades K-8 a chance to experience and learn about science, technology, engineering and math in a fun, interactive environment. Engineering competitions, machine building, robotics, free build and storytelling with LEGOs are amongst a few of the STEM activities children will get the opportunity to enjoy.
“The showcase is an opportunity for the community to experience robotics and engineering in an atmosphere of fun,” says Dr. Shirley Disseler, STEM coordinator and associate professor of elementary and middle grades education. “The ‘Come Build with Us’ motto is truly what the HPU event encompasses.”
The event will also have food available for purchase.
