HPU’s Department of Physical Therapy will host its third annual Halloween Family 5k Fun Run and walk to raise money for the HPU physical therapy student scholarship fund.
HIGH POINT, N.C., Oct. 4, 2019 – High Point University’s Department of Physical Therapy will host its third annual Halloween Family 5k Fun Run and Walk on Sunday, Oct. 13, at 2 p.m., to raise money for the HPU physical therapy student scholarship fund.
The race will begin at the High Point University Community Center at 921 Eastchester Drive in High Point, North Carolina. Participants are invited to wear costumes and take part in Halloween-themed activities, including music, games and trunk or treat, while enjoying refreshments from food trucks.
“We are committed to community engagement, as physical therapists will spend their careers giving back to people by helping improve their lives with better movement,” said Dr. Eric Hegedus, founding chair of HPU’s Department of Physical Therapy. “The Halloween DPT 5K Family Fun Run and Walk has become a tradition and is just one of the many ways our department strives to make a difference in the community.”
Proceeds from event participants and sponsors will go to the HPU physical therapy student scholarship fund to support future physical therapists as they work to bring health and wellness to the community. Throughout the year, HPU serves the High Point community at a pro bono physical therapy clinic. HPU faculty and physical therapy doctorate students provide their professional services at no cost to patients in need.
