North Carolina Symphony: Holiday POPS Concert, will be held at 3 p.m. on Dec. 1 in the Hayworth Fine Arts Center. Free and open to the public. For this year’s annual Holiday POPS Concert, the North Carolina Symphony will be coming to High Point University to play many holiday classics, such as the Concert Suite from “The Polar Express” and various pieces from “The Nutcracker.” This performance is supported by the Anne Kerr Walker Community Events Endowment Fund. Anne Kerr Walker is a current Board of Trustee member, leader of the Steel Magnolias and major donor. She established the Anne Kerr Walker Community Events Endowment Fund a few years ago and has supported the NC Symphony Holiday POPS concert in December each year. Annual Holiday Choral Concert, will be held from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Dec. 3 in the Hayworth Fine Arts Center. Free and open to the public. The annual Holiday Choral Concert is sure to be festive with Christmas songs from around the world as well as carols. The concert will feature all of the university choral ensembles, including University Singers, Chapel Choir, Women’s Chorus, Men’s Glee Club and Chamber Singers under the direction of Dr. Marc Ashley Foster, chair of the Department of Music and director of Choral Activities, and Mrs. Carol Earnhardt, assistant director of Choral Activities. Lessons and Carols, will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 4 in the Charles E. Hayworth Memorial Chapel. Free and open to the public. High Point University will bring the community together to remember and retell the Christmas story during the annual Lessons and Carols Candlelight Service. This special candlelight service, based on the traditional Festival of Lessons and Carols from King’s College in Cambridge, is the final chapel service of the fall semester, bringing the community together to remember and retell the Christmas story. It will feature members of the university community reading scripture and music led by the Chapel Choir. Attendees should enter campus from University Parkway and Montlieu Avenue. Parking will be available behind Hayworth Fine Arts Center. The service will be broadcast live to the chapel fellowship hall to accommodate overflow attendance and online at www.highpoint.edu/live and at www.facebook.com/hpuchapel.

Community Christmas Celebration, will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Dec 12 and 13 at HPU’s campus. Free and open to the public. High Point University continues its tradition of celebrating the sights and sounds of the holiday season with friends and neighbors with its ninth annual Community Christmas Celebration, featuring complimentary entertainment, hot food, Christmas decorations and more. HPU’s Community Christmas Celebration has grown into the premier complimentary Christmas celebration in the Piedmont Triad. Each year, the university welcomes more than 25,000 community members while faculty, staff and student volunteers contribute 3,500 hours to make it possible. Performances by local schools and church choirs will be featured as well. Other activities include Santa’s Stable Petting Zoo, Enhanced Polar Express Train Rides, a photo and gift for children who visit Santa in the Slane Center, readings of the Christmas Story by local ministers, a North Pole Playland and more.
All guests will park at Oak Hollow Mall near the entrance to the HPU Community Center, where complimentary shuttles will bring guests to campus. In the event of rain, the celebration will continue on campus in the Slane Center, R.G. Wanek Center and Millis Athletic and Convocation Center.
