With another Commencement behind us, High Point University graduates will be commencing prestigious career paths around the world at Fortune 500 companies, international service programs, public school systems, top-tier law, medical and graduate school programs, and many other esteemed organizations thanks to their journey at HPU. Here’s a glimpse of one extraordinary member of the Class of 2021:
Name: Lauren Stranko
Hometown: Latrobe, Pennsylvania
Major: Exercise science
Post-graduation plans: Stranko will be attending the Maryland University of Integrative Health to pursue a master’s in nutrition and integrative health.
How HPU helped you get there: “HPU helped me get to where I am today by providing immaculate faculties to attain knowledge, incredible and caring staff and faculty who want to work with their students to achieve success, and the opportunities to connect on campus through Greek life, clubs, office hours, sports and more.”
Most impactful mentor at HPU: “My most impactful mentor at HPU was by far Dr. Tony Kemerly. In the multiple classes I had from him, I learned how to really think for myself, dive deeper into the hidden meanings of the world around us and the importance of considering the human being as a holistic body instead of just an anatomical existence in the world of naturalistic science.”
Most impactful moment at HPU: “My most impactful moment at HPU was successfully completing organic chemistry I and II. With these courses rumored to be the hardest on campus, Dr. Andrew Womack is a large reason for my success. Completing those classes made me very proud of the student and person I was evolving into during my undergraduate career, because it took an intense amount of work and dedication.”
Advice for underclassmen: “After graduation, understand that you may want the best job you’re qualified for, however we are young. Take your time to build up your experience even outside of your career comfort zone and just enjoy life for a little bit. The world is yours and your thoughts become your reality!”
