HPU Donates Van to Triad Food Pantry

High Point University donated a van to the Triad Food Pantry, an organization that provides food around High Point to community groups. The organization will use the van for delivering food to mobile pantries around the community, loading up food from grocery stores and delivering food to residential facilities. HIGH POINT, N.C., Dec. 22, 2021 – It’s the season of giving, and High Point University helped a local organization with a generous donation on Dec. 20. HPU donated a van to the Triad Food Pantry, an organization that provides food to the High Point community.

The organization will use the van for delivering food to mobile pantries around the community, loading up food from grocery stores and delivering food to residential facilities.

“This van donation means a lot to us, and it will help us out so much,” says Henry Williams, president of the Triad Food Pantry. “We’ll use the van for home deliveries to the sick, which is a big help too. We’ve been serving this community for a long time, and we won’t stop anytime soon.”

Jo and Henry Williams, a husband-and-wife team, have been serving the High Point community for 30 years by providing food to people in need. It’s a form of philanthropy that Dr. Bob Brown, chairman of the HPU Board of Trustees, sees as a blessing to the community. He and HPU President Dr. Nido Qubein wanted to show their appreciation through this gift.

“Dr. Qubein shows his support for this community all over, and that is what’s happening here today,” says Brown. “I’ve known Jo and her family for a very long time. She’s one of the most generous people I know, and this food pantry is an example of her life’s work.”

The Triad Food Pantry provides non-perishable food, medical supplies and more for people in the community who need help.

“Commitment, compassion and love of your community, that’s what it takes to be here,” says Jo Williams, director of the Triad Food Pantry. “We love High Point University, and I am grateful and blessed that God has given me this incredible ministry in our city.”
