Major: M.A. Communication and Business Leadership
Post-graduation plans: Grecu will join PMC Treasury in New York City as a risk management analyst. In this role, he will provide analytical and project delivery support for client assignments and assist consultants with the development and maintenance of various in-house treasury models, documents and marketing materials.
How HPU helped you get there: “HPU gave me the tools to be successful in my career. Starting my first day on campus, I felt I was part of a larger family. From connecting with businesses executives to attending seminars with authors, entrepreneurs and even government officials, HPU exposed me to influential figures that gave me advice on how to position myself in the business world. The Office of Career and Professional Development team helped me develop my LinkedIn profile and resume, and prepare for job interviews.”
Most impactful mentor at HPU: “Dr. Joe Blosser. He not only guided me through my time at HPU, but also offered me support when I needed it. Dr. Blosser helped me develop into a young professional and gave me the resources I needed to be successful. He played a crucial role in my transition from college to a full-time career.”
Most impactful moment at HPU: “My most impactful moments at HPU were during the university’s annual MLK Day of Service. When I realized how much HPU cares about the surrounding community, it made me feel part of something bigger. To have the entire student body give back is something that truly reflects the value of service that is so important in the world today.”
How has HPU’s inspiring environment contributed to your success? “The environment at HPU is amazing and unique for student success. The beautiful campus made me feel confident walking to class, while the classrooms modeled after silicon valley offices kept me focused and motivated to complete courses at the highest level. Aside from the visual appeal, HPU’s staff and faculty are geared towards student success. This gave me all the tools and resources to not only be a good student, but also to prepare me for the real world.”
What are the life skills HPU helped you develop that prepared you for long-term success? “HPU helped me develop my industry specific skills through rigorous courses and training, but also taught me etiquette and habits that are crucial to the business world. From things like dining at 1924 Prime to meeting with staff in the Office of Career and Professional Development, every opportunity gave me the foundation to be successful after graduation.”
What are the values and virtues HPU’s campus helped you develop that you’ll take with you after graduation? “High Point University is a God, family, country school and instilled only the highest values and virtues in me. I believe that leadership, servitude, integrity and dedication are the most impactful virtues I will carry with me.”
Advice for underclassmen: “Take a moment to reflect on what you are passionate about. Then, set your goals high, stay motivated and work your hardest to reach even your most ambitious dreams.”
