HIGH POINT, N.C., June 2, 2022 – High Point University parents Elizabeth and David Lucchesi of Alexandria, Virginia, recently made a six-figure gift to the HPU Fund for Extraordinary Education.
“As a university, our mission is to support our students throughout their educational journey,” says HPU President Dr. Nido Qubein. “With support from our HPU families like the Lucchesi’s, we are able to provide $75 million in annual scholarship funding for today’s students through the HPU Fund for Extraordinary Education.”
Elizabeth and David have two children, James “Jim” and Harper. Jim, a freshman at HPU, is majoring in sales in the Earl N. Phillips School of Business. At HPU, Jim enjoys learning more about his career interests, especially in sales, finance and entrepreneurship. His interest in entrepreneurship was fostered from an early age and as a small business owner, Elizabeth wanted to show her children that they had the ability to work for themselves, if they desired. One of the many things Elizabeth admires about HPU is the university’s dedication to teaching life skills, such as how to communicate in a professional manner and how to conduct oneself in a variety of professional settings. The values that are instilled in students every day are extremely important to student success once they graduate and something that Elizabeth and her family believe should be cultivated within the next generations.
“By supporting HPU, we want to help other students to succeed in school and in life,” says Elizabeth Lucchesi. “It was not hard for our son to choose to attend HPU because of the extraordinary programs and opportunities available for experiential learning. To give other children that same opportunity to learn from and experience a life skills institution is truly inspiring and gratifying to see.”
