Name: Megan Mitchell
Hometown: Walpole, Massachusetts
Year: Class of 2024
Major: Strategic communication
Internship: Mitchell is the U.S. communications intern at Alexion Pharmaceuticals in Boston, Massachusetts. In her role, she helps develop and execute communications for the company’s U.S. commercial business to empower employees while strengthening the company’s brand and reputation.
How HPU helped you get there: “I learned so much from HPU’s communication department, especially from Dr. Laura Marshall and Dr. Matthew Ritter in their research and health communication classes. They helped me find what I am truly interested in and instilled a passion in me for health communication.”
How has HPU’s inspiring environment contributed to your success? “I would not have the inspiration I do at this campus on any other college campus. I love waking up every morning and walking outside to see beauty. It inspires me to not only go to my classes but to work as hard as possible.”
What has your internship experience been like, and how is it preparing you for your future?: “I have learned an incredible amount this summer at Alexion. I developed great collaboration, public speaking and communication skills while learning about the rare disease pharma industry. Alexion is truly patient-centric, and it has been energizing working with people that care so much about providing therapies to people that suffer from rare diseases. I hope to get a full-time job at Alexion Pharmaceuticals after I graduate.”
