Class of 2023 Outcomes: Alex Bouvier Advances at Amazon

Alex Bouvier an Area Manager for Amazon

HPU graduates are leading prestigious career paths around the world at Fortune 500 companies, international service programs, public school systems, top-tier law, medical and graduate school programs, and many other esteemed organizations thanks to their journey at HPU. Here’s a glimpse at one extraordinary member of the Class of 2023:

Name: Alex Bouvier

Hometown: Exeter, New Hampshire

Major: Strategic communication

Post-graduation plans: Bouvier will join Amazon in Huntsville, Alabama, as an area manager. In his role, he will be responsible for a team of 50-200 associates in a fulfillment center and work to ensure they reach the planned volume goal while maintaining a safe work environment. He will also be working with other departments to coach their teams to reach their career goals.

How HPU helped you get there:

“At HPU, I completed many writing assignments and improved my writing skills with the help of my professors. When I wrote my 10-page paper at the conclusion of my Amazon internship, the senior management team was impressed with my writing and attention to detail. This research paper on the facilities operations was a large contributing factor to achieving a full-time job offer. I believe my writing skills and work ethic were key reasons I received this job offer.”

Most impactful mentor at HPU:

“My most powerful mentors are the people and friends I met at HPU. These friends are my close confidants, who I trust to give their true opinion or approach to an issue.”

Most impactful moment at HPU:

“Joining the Delta Chi fraternity was my most impactful moment. Through joining, I met some of my best friends, who provided me with a powerful support network and the opportunity to better the HPU community.”

How has HPU’s inspiring environment contributed to your success?

“The friends I made in the Delta Chi fraternity are the reason I have the career that I have today. When I first got a summer internship offer with Amazon, I was unsure if I wanted to accept the position, but my friends discussed the pros and cons and encouraged me to take the role. It was the best decision, and my internship was a perfect fit for me. I’m happy I was selected for a full-time position because I can now enjoy my senior year without stressing about landing a job. The community at High Point University is special, and the student body looks out for each other.”

What are the life skills HPU helped you develop that prepared you for long-term success?

“Being a good communicator is one of the most valuable skills I’ve learned at HPU. When leading a team of 50-200 associates, you have to communicate well. You need to be able to draw the line between pushing the planned volume for the day while also working with your team to look out for their own wellbeing throughout the shift.”

What are the values and virtues HPU’s campus helped you develop that you’ll take with you after graduation?

“The HPU community is caring, and you see that every day while walking around campus. Students and faculty say please and thank you, and hold the doors for others. I think caring and being aware of others is an important value to have especially when going into a management role such as mine.”

Advice for underclassmen:

“My biggest advice is to get an internship early while still an undergraduate. That opportunity can lead to a full-time job offer. When I accepted my offer in September of my senior year, it was a great feeling because I could relax and enjoy the year knowing I had a plan for after graduation.”
