Post-graduation plans: Kolbenson joins The Riverstone Group in Manchester, New Hampshire, as an insurance operations support associate. In her role, she completes a variety of processing activities including transaction coding, data entry policy activities and associated tasks within service level guidelines.

“The Office of Career and Professional Development at HPU helped me create a resume and LinkedIn profile that allowed me to land this role. The Career and Professional Development staff also helped me land summer internships by reviewing my cover letter.”

Most impactful mentor at HPU:

“My most impactful mentor at HPU was Robert Stec, professor of the Practice of Communication. Not only was he an amazing professor, but he truly cared about my progress. He made sure I was successful at High Point University and showed me grace.”

Most impactful moment at HPU:

“My most impactful moment was my first day on campus. I felt welcomed by every staff member I met and that continued to build as I made relationships with the staff in the dining halls and all over campus. I felt like every single person at HPU cared about me and my success.”

How has HPU’s inspiring environment contributed to your success?

“HPU’s inspiring environment contributed to my success because I gained self-confidence and was not intimidated by the decor or conference rooms when I walked into my company to interview. I was so used to working in those environments from my experiences in academic buildings on campus that I was able to be successful in my interview and now successful in my job.”

What are the life skills HPU helped you develop that prepared you for long-term success?

“HPU helped me develop life skills through the various seminars held on campus. I had the opportunity to meet amazing mentors and role models, and I learned from them and their experiences.”

Advice for underclassmen:

“Utilize all of the resources HPU has to offer, such as the Office of Career and Professional Development, and make connections with professors and innovators in residence!”
