Post-graduation plans: Schroeder is an inside sales consultant for the Charlotte Hornets, where she is responsible for the sale of season tickets, partial season ticket plans and group outings.

How HPU helped you get there: 

“HPU provided me with professional opportunities and taught me skills that helped me gain confidence in the business world. I used the Office of Career and Professional Development to help me with my cover letter, resume and LinkedIn profile. The staff gave me insightful feedback and made me a more competitive job applicant.”

Most impactful mentor at HPU: 

“My most impactful mentor at HPU was Dr. Tim Koba, assistant professor of sport management. He pushed me to be a better student and had a major impact on me during my four years at HPU. He helped me develop the skills necessary to work in the sports industry and prepared me for my future.”

Most impactful moment at HPU:

“My most impactful moment at HPU was traveling to New York City to perform a solo that was choreographed by Lindsey Howie, assistant professor of dance. It was a wonderful opportunity and a dream come true for me.”

How has HPU’s inspiring environment contributed to your success?

“HPU encouraged me to put my best foot forward at all times. I always loved attending HPU President Nido Qubien’s First-Year Seminar on Life Skills and learning about the successful people who have walked HPU’s campus.”

What are the life skills HPU helped you develop that prepared you for long-term success?

“HPU provided me with various life skills that truly prepared me for my future. Group projects and public speaking opportunities helped me gain confidence. HPU provided a vast network of professionals in my field of study, which allowed me to make connections.”

What are the values and virtues HPU’s campus helped you develop that you’ll take with you after graduation?

“One core value that HPU helped me develop is to be respectful. I am a firm believer in the golden rule of treating others the way that you want to be treated. This is one of the keys to success.”

Advice for underclassmen:

“Be open to trying new things. Trust the process and live in the moment. With hard work and determination, anything is possible.”
