HPU Invites Community to Arbor Day Celebration

HIGH POINT, N.C., April 16, 2024 – High Point University invites community members and the HPU family to campus for the university’s annual Arbor Day Celebration at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 18, at the Cottrell Amphitheater. The event is free and open to the public.

This year’s celebration will feature various speakers, including HPU’s First Lady Mariana Qubein, who has spearheaded the transformation of the campus Arboretum and Botanical Gardens. Each guest in attendance will receive a complimentary flowering dogwood to take home following the event.

The Mariana H. Qubein Arboretum and Botanical Gardens at HPU feature more than 30 gardens with more than 3,700 different plants and 700 varieties of trees. HPU’s gardens will be featured in an episode of PBS North Carolina’s “NC Weekend,” which will air the same day as HPU’s Arbor Day Celebration – at 9 p.m. on Thursday, April 18.

“Keeping HPU’s arboretum and gardens in optimum shape has been one of our primary goals,” Qubein said. “The beautiful campus environment provides a space for holistic learning and a place for rest.”
