Major: History with a minor in museum studies

Post-graduation plans: Scrivo will now pursue her Master’s Degree in Public Administration at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida.

How HPU helped you get there: “HPU has been instrumental in helping preparing me for my next journey through rigorous coursework, supportive mentors and a beautiful campus. Taking advantage of all the resources HPU has to offer such as the Office of Career and Professional Development and professors within my major, I have been able to learn and grow into a well-rounded professional over the past four years. Additionally, I have completed an array of diverse internships that have helped me gain real-world experience and skills I can take with me on my future pursuits.”

How you used Career & Professional Development: “I have used the Office of Career and Professional Development extensively throughout my academic journey. I have been able to gain insight and feedback to ensure I had all the right tools to succeed. Internship search, career search and resume review have been some of the most important and impactful sessions with the Office of Career and Professional Development staff.”

Most impactful mentor at HPU: “The most impactful mentor I had at HPU is Dr. Amanda Allen, professor of history. She is a passionate and driven educator who strives to create the best and most innovative experiences for students of history and beyond. She was my first-year seminar teacher during my first semester of freshman year. She inspired me to not only become a history major, but also to continue pursuing my dreams no matter what. She has supported me and helped me in my internship search, as well as my graduate school search, and I am thankful for her support throughout my entire HPU experience.”

What are the life skills HPU helped you develop that prepared you for long-term success? “Throughout my time at HPU, I have learned a plethora of skills that I can take with me on my future journey. Skills include networking, professionalism, how to dress for success and becoming a more confident communicator and public speaker.”

Advice for underclassmen: “Stay motivated and ambitious throughout your journey even if your path may not seem clear. I always stayed persistent throughout my journey despite struggles and setbacks, which has led to my successes and continued efforts to keep reaching higher for my personal and professional success.”
