Name: Lorenzo Repack, Class of 2024

Hometown: Columbus, New Jersey

Major: Sales; minor in Finance

Post-graduation plans: Repack is taking on Tampa, Florida as an Investment Banking Analyst at Benchmark International. He will be analyzing financial models and conducting company valuations for sell-side transactions, negotiating terms on non-disclosure agreements and facilitating the transaction process. Additionally, he will prepare Confidential Information Memorandums, explaining industry trends and assessing clients’ situations to provide necessary financial advice and recommend strategies to meet client goals. On top of all that, Repack will also research and identify potential buyers and investors, and engage with clients to facilitate strategic engagements and maintain relationships.

How HPU helped you get there: “HPU gave me the opportunity to surround myself with like-minded individuals and prepare me for life after college. The professionalism on campus was helpful as I approached the real world.”

Most impactful mentor at HPU: “Dr. Wehrley, Associate Professor of Finance, was an impactful professor of mine. He taught me the fundamentals of finance and Excel. His style of teaching is great for students’ learning ability. He is the best professor I had during college as he makes class enjoyable and explains concepts very well.”

Most impactful moment at HPU: “When I came to the school for a visit, all the staff was super welcoming and made me feel like I was at home. Great hospitality during my entire time at HPU — they truly cared about their students.”

How has HPU’s inspiring environment contributed to your success? “I find Dr. Qubein’s story truly inspiring and the standards he sets for his students are great. The quote, “There’s no such thing as unrealistic dreams, only unrealistic timelines,” resonates with me and reminds me anything is possible.”

What are the life skills HPU helped you develop that prepared you for long-term success? “HPU helped me develop dinner etiquette, professionalism, networking skills and written communication skills.”

What are the values and virtues HPU’s campus helped you develop that you’ll take with you after graduation? “God, family, country. Know that God has a plan for you, that everything happens for a reason and it will work out in the end. Having a supportive family at home was helpful and a strong circle at HPU. Living in the best country in the world allows me to attend a school like HPU and have the opportunities that I am blessed with.”

Advice for underclassmen: “Start early — build up your resume with internships, clubs and organizations. Learn something new every day and network as much as possible. Take control of your future and do not wait for opportunities to be presented to you, go create them.”
