Post-graduation plans: Jake begins his career in New York as a Global End User Services Support Engineer for Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. His responsibilities include effective analysis, troubleshooting and accurate problem-solving of technical incidents of varying degrees by responding to issues received through the service. Additionally, Jake’s responsibilities include management systems, email, Teams, phone and walk-up IT service work.
How HPU helped you get there: “HPU pushed me to be explorative and work outside of my comfort zone. I learned how to foster a connection with an individual while being a professional.”
Most impactful mentor at HPU: “Dr. Will Suchan from the engineering school was my most impactful mentor at HPU. He was an outstanding teacher who had an enviable mastery of his computer science work and the ability to make complex concepts accessible. He was engaging and dedicated to helping students both in and out of the classroom. He was always there to help, answer a question, or help navigate a sticky situation.”
Advice for underclassmen: “Do EVERYTHING. Everything is worth your while at such a young age. Try it all, and if you hate it, you’ll know you can move on. While it sounds cliche, just do it. There is truly no better time to do it than now. You can only plan for so much. You waste time planning and postponing when instead you could be making mistakes and failing, which is way more worth it.”
