Here’s a quick glimpse at one of many impressive outcomes HPU graduates achieve.
Name: Kayla O’Connor, Class of 2025
Hometown: Miller Place, New York
Major: Business Administration
Internship plans: Kayla served as a Project Controls Specialist Intern for Manta Ray Consulting. She worked remote for the most part, however, Manta Ray Consulting has a U.S. Atlas satellite office located at Brookhaven National Laboratory in New York that Kayla was able to visit. How HPU helped you get there: “The informational interviews we are required to do for several business classes opened up dialog in areas I was interested in and presented opportunities for internships from the people with whom I interviewed.”
How has HPU’s inspiring environment contributed to your success? “HPU’s inspiring environment has contributed to my success because I knew I could always ask for help. Whether it was from a professor, an advisor, utilizing the resources and people available in Cottrell Hall, or any mentor on campus, I knew I always had someone to turn to whenever I was struggling. This comforted me and has helped me to move forward past many obstacles while being at HPU.”
Most impactful mentor at HPU: “Professor April Cosner, instructor of business communication, has had the biggest impact on me at HPU. She is a positive role model who inspired me to venture out of my comfort zone. Aside from being a professor, Professor Cosner also goes out of her way to develop a caring relationship with her students. She has also taught me valuable skills that I will continue to use throughout my future.”
What are the life skills HPU helped you develop that prepared you for long-term success? “HPU has helped me to develop life skills that prepared me for long-term success such as resilience, leadership and problem solving. The most important life skill that I’ve developed at HPU is communication, which will prepare me for any future endeavor.”
