HPU Chamber Singers to Be Featured on Fox News Christmas Tree Lighting

The High Point University Chamber Singers will be featured during FOX News’ fifth annual “All-American Christmas Tree Lighting” at 5 p.m. EST on Friday, Nov. 22. During a special edition of “The Five,” the chamber singers will perform “Silent Night” in front of the large Christmas tree on the lawn outside Roberts Hall on HPU’s campus. At 70 feet, it is the tallest Christmas tree in North Carolina.

In addition to the performance by the Chambers Singers, FOX News reporter and co-anchor Griff Jenkins will interview Rev. Dr. Preston Davis, minister of the university, about HPU’s campus-wide initiative to help communities in western North Carolina that were impacted by Hurricane Helene. HPU has raised more than $33,000 for hurricane victims and donated thousands of bottles of water and hundreds of boxes of foods, supplies and clothing.

HPU’s elaborate Christmas decorations will also be featured during the “All-American Christmas Tree Lighting.” A crew from FOX News visited campus earlier this week to capture footage of HPU’s life-sized nativity scene, several of the 235 nutcrackers posted around campus and the large American flag on the concourse of the Nido and Mariana Qubein Arena and Conference Center. Directly below the flag display, approximately 3,000 pounds of steel originally used to construct the Twin Towers in New York were installed in 2022 in High Point University letters, along with the letters of “God. Family. Country.”

The Chamber Singers performed several Christmas carols for FOX News that could be featured during the holiday season.
