HIGH POINT, N.C., Nov. 14, 2024 – High Point University students recently took time to document their many blessings as part of The Gratitude Project, an annual campaign that allows students to share what they are thankful for during this Thanksgiving season.

Hosted since 2010, the event on Nov. 6 outside HPU’s Slane Student Center offered students the opportunity to write messages on poster boards or paint rocks to express their appreciation. The Gratitude Project continued the following day at the cornucopia display at the Kester International Promenade.
Many students shared their thankfulness for the love and support of family and friends. Others noted appreciation for their faith, country or education. Some students named specific professors, academic departments or HPU President Nido Qubein.
Finn McGeough, a sophomore entrepreneurship major from Manhattan, New York, explained the thoughts behind his gratitude poster. “My friends, because they’ve always been there for me. My parents, because they helped me with school, and they’ve always been there for me. And Dr. Qubein, because I’ve heard how he’s built up this campus so much. I’m appreciative of this place.”

William Reeves, a sophomore elementary education major from Southington, Connecticut, echoed the words of many students as he expressed gratitude for his “family and friends here at HPU.”
“I feel like my professors have been super supportive,” said Caroline Brooke Bosley, a freshman art major from Portland, Oregon. “Anytime I need help in class or out of class, they’re always there. They always respond to emails quickly. They tell me what I need to improve, which helps me learn better. I’m just thankful that they show up every day and teach us because that’s what we need.”
“I’m really thankful for being able to go to High Point University and learn,” said Bella Gould, a sophomore English and history major from New Orleans, Louisiana.

Jack Fobert, a senior mathematics and Spanish major, expressed his gratitude for the country. “Definitely for living in the United States,” said Fobert, who is from Boston, Massachusetts. “I think a lot of people take for granted what we have here. I just wanted to keep that in mind, especially with the recent election.”
“I’m thankful for my family and their endless support,” said Carly McKinney, a freshman sport management major from West Deptford, New Jersey.
“I’m thankful for a second chance at life’s success,” said Dylan Osowski, a freshman music major from Houston, Texas.
“Genuinely, I’m always thankful because I am a strong believer in Jesus Christ, and I have such joy in my life that I get to live and fulfill every day for him,” said Annabella Laden, a freshman international business and dance dual major from Chicago, Illinois. “As well, I am so thankful that my parents can provide the opportunities for me to attend High Point University. Also, I am thankful I am able to make so many genuine relationships and friends here. I am so fortunate, and I always will be thankful.”
“I’m thankful for Jesus Christ, his passion, death and resurrection because without any of those things, we would not be able to have a relationship with God,” said Anna Joan Phillips, a freshman elementary education major from Gainesville, Virginia.
