Name: Luke Ardizzone, Class of 2024
Hometown: Charlotte, North Carolina
Major: Political Science
Post-graduation plans: Ardizzone began his political science career in Charlotte, North Carolina, as a Campaign Manager for U.S. Congressional Candidate Mark Harris, who was elected to serve the NC-8 Congressional District. As the Campaign Manager, Ardizzone ran and managed the campaign. His main tasks ranged from hosting fundraisers, planning and coordinating events, advising the candidate on campaign strategy, and speaking and campaigning on behalf of the candidate.
How HPU helped you get there: “I took a class where I worked on a campaign, and did an internship my senior year that not only got me connected to the campaign but also gave me experience I would need for the job.”
Most impactful mentor at HPU: “Dr. Mark Setzler, professor of political science and my advisor, has pushed me to think critically and taught me how to show professionalism in the political sphere. Additionally, he adequately equipped me with political knowledge that I use for this job.”
How you used Career & Professional Development: “I went to the Office of Career & Professional Development for help with resume building, as well as developing good interviewing skills.”
What are the life skills HPU helped you develop that prepared you for long-term success? “Interview, public speaking, event planning and organization.”
