Most impactful mentor at HPU: “My most impactful mentor at HPU would be Dr. Tanisha Watkins, Instructor of Strategic Communication. From the beginning, Dr. Watkins encouraged me to enroll in the Communication and Business Leadership graduate program at HPU. Once in the program, she taught both of my capstone courses, inspiring me to never set limits for myself and to work above and beyond my best effort.”
Most impactful moment at HPU: “My most impactful moment at HPU was when Dr. Watkins told me that I possessed the skills and attributes of a graduate student and that I should consider looking into the Communication and Business Leadership program. Knowing that an accredited professor truly believed in me made all the difference in the world and changed my academic path for the better.”
How has HPU’s inspiring environment contributed to your success? “HPU’s environment is filled with the most supportive community of faculty, staff and fellow students. My day-to-day campus life centered around feelings of value and inspiration that encouraged me to pursue my goals.”
What are the life skills HPU helped you develop that prepared you for long-term success? “HPU helped me develop professional communication skills, equipping me with the confidence and expertise needed to excel in interviews, engage with higher-ups in a company and foster effective communication with coworkers.”
What are the values and virtues HPU’s campus helped you develop that you’ll take with you after graduation? “HPU helped me develop the values and virtues of leadership and service that I will take with me after graduation. My goal is to apply the principles of leadership in my professional career by assuming leadership roles within my team and organization. I also plan to remain actively involved in my community by volunteering my time to support charitable causes.”
