Here’s a quick glimpse at one of many impressive outcomes HPU graduates achieve.
Name: Mackenzie Wander, Class of 2024
Hometown: Holland, Michigan
Major: Event Management; minor in Business Administration
Post-graduation plans: Mackenzie is starting her career as a event coordinator for Virtuoso in Fort Worth, Texas. As an event coordinator, she will work with event planners and the director of events operations to support Virtuoso events across all regions. In addition, she will assist with registration, event materials, research, post-event evaluations and event execution as assigned.
How HPU helped you get there: “HPU helped me get to where I am now by providing an environment where I was encouraged and always pushed to the next level. HPU truly wants the best for its students and will do whatever it can to help you.”
Most impactful mentor at HPU: “My event management professors, Dr. Wiitala and Dr. Clark, are the reason I feel confident going into the workplace. Through all of their lectures and projects, I got amazing hands-on experience in the world of events.”
Advice for underclassmen: “Don’t give up, it took me 6 months to land this job but now I can say that it was worth the wait. But don’t waste the waiting period, get a random job and start making connections and working while you are applying to jobs, that way you can save up and not get entirely burnt out applying to jobs all day long.”
