Name: Reilly Gallagher, Class of 2026

Hometown: Norfolk, Virginia

Major: Fashion Merchandising

Internship plans: Reilly was a Bridal Consultant Intern for Kleinfeld Bridal in New York City this past summer. During her internship, she had the opportunity to shadow experienced bridal consultants, learn the art of styling, as well as assist brides in finding their dream dresses. Additionally, she collaborated with the marketing team to create content for promotional videos and social media. On the weekends, the boutique featured some of the best bridal designers in the world, highlighting their newest collections with distinctive trunk shows, which allowed Reilly to model the collections and network with influential designers.

How HPU helped you get there: “HPU has helped prepare me for my future aspirations by offering inspiring classes that have fueled my passion for the fashion industry. Beyond academics, HPU has helped me gain confidence through an abundance of opportunities that have empowered me to achieve my goals. The university has not only deepened my knowledge but also equipped me with the self-assurance and skills necessary to push for my future goals.”

Most impactful mentor at HPU: “My most impactful mentor at High Point so far has been Dr. Brown, Assistant Professor of Home Furnishings and Interior Design. Having her as both a professor and an advisor has been valuable in my academic career. Her passion for subject matter and knowledge has significantly shaped my academic experience. Her guidance beyond the classroom as an advisor has encouraged me to explore my interests with hopefully studying abroad and pursuing personal goals. Dr. Brown’s support has left a lasting impact on my personal and professional development.”

How you used Career & Professional Development: “I used the Office of Career and Professional Development to help enhance my resume before I started applying to different summer internships. This meeting was valuable because it helped me improve my resume with achievements and tips I never would have considered adding.”

Advice for underclassmen: “Take up every opportunity given to you, especially regarding global experiences. My Maymester abroad in Sydney, Australia, was one of my most life-changing experiences and inspired me to hopefully go to Florence, Italy, for a whole semester in 2025.”
