Internship plans: Alexis was a Strategic Communication Intern for the Falmouth Commodores in Falmouth, Massachusetts this summer. As a strategic communication intern, her responsibilities included writing compelling communications in a variety of formats – primarily news stories, human interest articles and social media. In addition, she was also responsible for sharing with fans and community aspects of the Commodores outside of direct game coverage. This included community events, game recognition nights, clinics, host families, volunteer and intern profiles, as well as alumni player profiles.
How HPU helped you get there: “The classes I have taken at HPU have played a huge role in preparing me for this internship. I felt ahead of the game going into this summer.”
Most impactful mentor at HPU: “Nick Buzzelli, Assistant Professor of Sports Media, was my most impactful mentor at HPU. He is always pushing me to be the best student I can be, and sees the true potential in every student.”
How you used Career & Professional Development: “I went to the Office of Career and Professional Development for interview preparation.”
What has your internship experience been like and how is it preparing you for your future: “I have had amazing opportunities in my internship, such as interviewing the 2024 first overall MLB draft pick, Travis Bazzana. I have also been published in a magazine and interviewed by the Boston Globe, all through my internship. It’s a real, hands-on experience that HPU greatly prepared me for.”
Advice for underclassmen: “Take advantage of all the opportunities HPU gives you. They are amazing and truly prepare you for success!”
