Name: Audrey Caron, Class of 2025

Hometown: Indianapolis, Indiana

Major: Marketing; minor in Sales and Graphic Design

Post-graduation plans: Audrey will begin her career as a LASR Program Associate for Lenovo in Raleigh, North Carolina. The LASR program is a two-year,  full-time sales development program with both non-technical and technical tracks including comprehensive onboarding, business rotation to establish strong strategic acumen aligned to business priorities, professional development curricula, and immersive sales and product training. In addition, the program also includes consumer-to-relationship segment rotations within Inside Sales and beyond.

How HPU helped you get there: HPU gave me a diverse curriculum with experienced professors. All of my professors had experience in the field they were teaching and were able to add a unique perspective to my required courses. The school of business taught me how to truly build my brand and sell myself, which is something I never knew I needed to learn but was crucial in securing internships and jobs. The experiential curriculum that pushes you out of your comfort zone with mock interviews and role plays prepared me for the positions that I stepped into throughout the years.

Most impactful mentor at HPU: There are so many! Professor Bridget Holcombe, Assistant Professor of the Practice of Business Communications and Director of Career Education has always been a great cheerleader and never fails to make me smile. She pushed me to work hard to build my brand in her business boot camp and allowed me to share my experiences on panels for younger students. Professor of the Practice of Marketing & Sales Mark Michael,  and Professor Larry Quinn, Chair of the Department of Marketing and Sales and Director of the Professional Selling Program were the mentors who pushed me to try out a sales internship that led me to my career shift from marketing to sales. What they saw in me was something I didn’t see in myself, and I am forever grateful. I could go on forever about how each of my professors impacted me positively and prepared me for my career.

Most impactful moment at HPU: Joining a sorority at HPU was the most impactful moment of my college experience. It catalyzed my involvement on campus and helped me find a strong, supportive community. Kappa Delta challenged me to become the best version of myself—motivating me to excel academically, take on leadership roles, and fully engage in both the sorority and campus life. Serving as Vice President of Learning and Development for Kappa Delta strengthened my leadership skills and confidence, preparing me for future success. The experiences and relationships I built through Greek life will stay with me long after graduation.

How has HPU’s inspiring environment contributed to your success? HPU is an environment of very career-motivated students and professors. Being surrounded by like-minded, driven individuals has pushed me to set higher goals, work harder, and seize opportunities that have directly contributed to my success. HPU equips students with the confidence, skills, and network to thrive beyond graduation.

What are the life skills HPU helped you develop that prepared you for long-term success? One of the most valuable life skills I developed at HPU is a strong work ethic. The university fosters an environment where internships and post-graduate opportunities are not just encouraged but expected by both students and faculty. This culture instilled in me the drive to actively pursue internships, excel in those roles, and remain committed to securing meaningful postgraduate employment. The high expectations and support from HPU pushed me to develop discipline, perseverance, and a results-driven mindset—skills that continue to guide me in my long-term professional success.

What are the values and virtues HPU’s campus helped you develop that you’ll take with you after graduation?  HPU has instilled in me two core values that I will carry with me beyond graduation: a growth mindset and servant leadership. The university’s culture encourages continuous learning, resilience, and adaptability—helping me embrace challenges as opportunities for growth rather than obstacles. This mindset has allowed me to push far beyond my comfort zone, seek new experiences, and remain open to lifelong development. Additionally, HPU’s emphasis on servant leadership has shaped the way I approach teamwork and leadership. I’ve learned that true leadership is about empowering others, leading with empathy, and making a meaningful impact on those around me. Whether in professional settings or personal endeavors, I will continue to lead by example, prioritize service, and contribute to the success of those around me. These values will be the foundation of my long-term success and fulfillment.

Advice for underclassmen: If it doesn’t challenge you, it won’t change you. Growth comes with discomfort, and the best opportunities often feel intimidating at first. Push yourself outside your comfort zone every semester—take on new challenges, explore different career paths through internships, and get involved on campus. Every experience, no matter how small, opens a door to new possibilities. The more you step into the unknown, the more confident and prepared you’ll be for life after graduation.
