How HPU helped you get there: High Point University has been instrumental in my pursuit of a Doctor of Health Administration (DHA). The supportive environment and dedicated faculty provided me with invaluable academic and professional growth opportunities. HPU’s knowledgeable professors fostered critical thinking and equipped me with essential analytical skills for healthcare leadership. The university’s state-of-the-art facilities and resources, experiential learning opportunities, and industry connections further enriched my education. Networking events and mentorship programs opened doors to invaluable professional guidance. HPU’s commitment to excellence has not only prepared me for my DHA but has also inspired me to pursue leadership roles in healthcare. I am grateful for the strong foundation I built and excited for the future ahead.

How you used Career & Professional Development: At HPU, I leveraged Career & Professional Development resources to enhance my career readiness. I attended networking events that connected me with alumni and industry professionals, expanding my network and career insights. HPU’s strong alumni network also provided opportunities for informational interviews, offering guidance on navigating my career path. Additionally, I utilized job search resources, including job boards and career guides, to explore potential employers. These resources were invaluable in building my confidence and preparing me for the workforce, playing a crucial role in my professional development.

Most impactful mentor at HPU: Dr. Goodspeed, Founding Director, Master of Healthcare Administration and Professor of Medical Sciences was the most impactful mentor during my Master of Health Administration (MHA) program. His deep expertise made complex health administration concepts accessible and engaging. From the start, he provided personalized guidance, helping me navigate coursework, select meaningful projects, and identify growth opportunities. His encouragement and belief in my potential motivated me to excel. Dr. Goodspeed’s real-world insights bridged theory and practice, while his industry connections expanded my professional network. He emphasized leadership development, inspiring confidence in my ability to lead. Beyond academics, his mentorship extended to ethical and professional challenges, shaping me into a well-rounded future healthcare leader. I am deeply grateful for his guidance, which has left a lasting impact on my academic and professional journey.

What are the life skills HPU helped you develop that prepared you for long-term success? HPU equipped me with essential life skills for long-term success. The rigorous academics sharpened my critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication abilities, while group projects fostered teamwork and collaboration. Balancing coursework and extracurriculars strengthened my time management and adaptability, preparing me for dynamic environments. Leadership opportunities helped me develop decision-making skills, and HPU’s emphasis on networking taught me the value of professional connections. Exposure to diverse perspectives also enhanced my cultural competence, a crucial skill in today’s global workforce. Overall, HPU provided a well-rounded foundation that extends beyond academics, preparing me for professional growth and success.

HPU’s focus on service inspired me to give back to my community, and overcoming challenges helped me develop perseverance in achieving my goals. The collaborative environment taught me the value of teamwork, and a strong sense of gratitude reminds me to appreciate the opportunities and support around me.
