How HPU helped you get there: “HPU helped prepare me for this role in many ways. First off, the career and professional development office was terrific for helping to tailor my resume and ensure I was putting my best foot forward. My coursework has also helped to prepare me for the interview process. Through class presentations, informational interviews and so much more, I have had experiences to prepare me. ”
How you used the Office of Career & Professional Development: “Yes, meetings to work on my resume, cover letter, and LinkedIn. I also had the opportunity to attend HPU in the City, which was a great experience visiting companies, networking, and discovering more of my passions.”
Most impactful mentor at HPU: “I can name a few. Dr. Rhonda Butler, Assistant Professor and Executive Director of the Women’s Leadership, has been a great inspiration for me. Her honesty in sharing how her experiences have shaped her into the leader she is today has been inspiring. Dr. Butler is also very meaningful in her courses. I have come out of all her courses learning more about myself, growing and tangible ways to develop as a leader.
Melody Emerson, Instructor of Strategic Communication, has been a wonderful mentor as well. Through her courses, I have discovered my passion for social media marketing and crisis communication. Professor Emerson is passionate about what she does, and therefore that sparked my passion. She is also my academic advisor and is always willing to give me helpful insights and support me. I am very thankful for her!”
