How HPU helped you get there: “I credit a significant portion of both my personal and professional growth to this university. Throughout my time here, I have been continuously supported, challenged and inspired in ways that have shaped who I am today. High Point University has opened doors to countless opportunities — ranging from academic enrichment and leadership development to internships and real-world experiences — that I may not have encountered elsewhere. Most importantly, it has connected me with a diverse and inspiring network of peers, mentors and professionals who have played a vital role in my journey.”

Most impactful mentor at HPU: “My most impactful mentor at High Point University has been Dr. Kelly Curtis, Associate Professor of Psychology. From the very beginning of my college journey, starting from my freshman year, she has been a constant source of support and encouragement. Dr. Curtis believed in my potential even when I was uncertain about my path, and she consistently motivated me to stay true to myself and pursue my goals — even when the future felt unclear. Her guidance, both academically and personally, has played a crucial role in shaping my confidence, resilience and direction. I’m incredibly grateful for her mentorship and the lasting impact she has had on my growth during my time at HPU.”

Most impactful moment at HPU: “My most impactful experience at High Point University was working at the university’s Concierge desk. This role provided me with valuable real-world experience and served as a foundation for developing a wide range of professional skills. From managing multiple responsibilities and interacting with diverse individuals to refining my communication and problem-solving abilities, my time at Concierge taught me how to thrive in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment. It was an opportunity that not only enhanced my resume but also built my confidence and prepared me for future professional roles.”

What are the life skills HPU helped you develop that prepared you for long-term success?High Point University has equipped me with a wide range of essential life skills, but the most impactful has been the development of my communication abilities. I’ve learned how to speak confidently and professionally in various settings, as well as how to effectively communicate through written channels. From mastering proper email etiquette to conducting professional phone conversations, these skills have prepared me to engage thoughtfully and respectfully in both personal and professional environments.”
