HIGH POINT, N.C., May 21, 2025 – High Point University invites the community to visit campus and enjoy guided tours through 30 of the university’s vibrant gardens while they are in full bloom this summer.
HPU staff members will lead community members on peaceful walking tours through the Mariana H. Qubein Arboretum and Botanical Gardens, starting Wednesday, June 11, and continuing every Wednesday through the end of July. The garden tours start at 9 a.m., and guests will receive complimentary tea and cookies at the end of the tour.
The garden tours are free and open to the public. To attend, community members must register at www.highpoint.edu/community/garden-tours.
HPU’s arboretum and gardens feature more than 3,700 different plants and more than 700 varieties of trees. They include 48 varieties of redbuds, 65 varieties of dogwoods, 40 varieties of flowering apricots and 135 varieties of magnolias.
“We look forward to welcoming the community to campus to enjoy the beautiful gardens that make High Point University such an inspiring environment for our students,” HPU President Nido Qubein said. “This is a way to bring people together and encourage them to take some time every week to relax and enjoy nature.”

Community members are encouraged to bring friends and family members and enjoy an inspiring morning surrounded by nature on HPU’s campus. Tours are available on the following Wednesdays this summer:

HPU unveiled plans for a new Japanese garden that will be built on campus, thanks to a generous gift from David and Christy Cottrell, during HPU’s annual Arbor Day Celebration on April 24. During the event, representatives from the Arbor Day Foundation presented campus leaders with the Tree Campus Higher Education Award for a 16th consecutive year. It marks the longest current streak for a North Carolina university to earn the Tree Campus Higher Education Award.
