Post-graduation plans: Jaelyn will begin her career as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Cardiac Progressive Care Unit at Atrium Health Cabarrus in Concord, North Carolina. Jaelyn will provide specialized care to patients with acute and chronic cardiac conditions, closely monitoring their status and responding to changes in condition. She will also collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to implement care plans, administer medications and educate patients and families on cardiac health and recovery.

Most impactful mentor at HPU: “My most impactful mentor at HPU was my professor, Dr. Stefanie Smoot, Assistant Professor of Nursing. She taught me many important things that will help me on my nursing journey. Dr. Smoot was always encouraging and supportive throughout the nursing program. Her unwavering support and willingness to answer questions helped me greatly succeed in the program.”
Advice for underclassmen: “To be successful after graduation, make sure to put yourself out there. Great jobs arise by making meaningful connections with people.”
