Internship plans: Maggy has the opportunity to intern as a Medical Assistant for Dermatology Specialist of Greater Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio. In this role, Maggy will assist with patient intake, scribing during consultations and supporting minor procedures while gaining valuable clinical experience in a fast-paced dermatology practice. Maggy will also have the opportunity to observe a wide range of medical and cosmetic dermatologic treatments, further strengthening her interest in the field.
How HPU helped you get there: “HPU has provided me with rigorous and engaging science courses that have built a strong foundation for medical school. Beyond the classroom, supportive faculty, research opportunities and clinical experiences have helped me grow as a future healthcare provider and leader.”
Most impactful mentor at HPU: “My most impactful mentor at HPU is Dr. Heather Miller, Associate Professor of Chemistry. She has offered invaluable guidance both academically and personally and working with her in the research lab has been an incredibly rewarding experience. I’ve especially appreciated contributing to research with real-world applications that could one day help save lives.”
Advice for underclassmen: “Get involved early and often—HPU is a place where you truly get out what you put in. By taking advantage of leadership roles, research, and campus organizations, you’ll build the skills, connections and confidence needed to succeed after graduation.”
