Name: Maximilian Chisolm, Class of 2027

Hometown: Charlotte, North Carolina

Major: Biology; minor in Chemistry

Internship plans: Maximilian will be interning at Ocean Connections as their Animal Care Intern in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. As their Animal Care Intern, Maximilian will gain knowledge of the care, husbandry and training of Pinnipeds, Macaws, Dogs and Ducks. His role consists of cleaning of animal habitats, daily facility cleaning, diet preparation, record keeping, assisting/observing animal training sessions and animal enrichment.

How HPU helped you get there: HPU has taught me that if I put the work in, I can accomplish any goal I set for myself.”

Most impactful mentor at HPU: “Dr. Angela Broadnax, Assistant Professor of Chemistry, is my most impactful mentor at HPU. She was very supportive in helping me apply to several internship programs that will aid my future endeavors as an exotic veterinarian.”

How you used Career & Professional Development: “I used the Office of Career and Professional Development to help map out an internship, as well as seek out veterinarian shadowing opportunities for Fall of 2025.”

Advice for underclassmen: “Take advantage of all the resources HPU has to offer, including getting to know the professors, participating in research projects and utilizing the Office of Career and Professional Development.”
