Post-graduation plans: Alexis will be starting her career as a Marketing Assistant for Landmark Builders Inc. in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. As a Marketing Assistant at Landmark Builders Inc., she will act as a general contractor in the commercial construction industry, where she will help manage a comprehensive range of initiatives, including design of marketing collateral, social media management, RFP responses and coordination of project photography. Additionally, Alexis will maintain brand standards, create materials for meetings and events, manage press relations, submit award applications and actively engage in community volunteer activities that enhance Landmark’s professional reputation.

During his Fundamentals of Art class, he recognized and nurtured design abilities I hadn’t fully acknowledged in myself. He encouraged me to develop skills with Adobe software that would later become vital to my professional identity. Professor Gurley’s guidance helped me identify a unique differentiator when entering the workforce; the ability to blend graphic design with communication expertise. This combination has proven invaluable in my marketing career, allowing me to bring both visual creativity and strategic messaging to projects that might otherwise require multiple team members.”
Most impactful moment at HPU: “My most impactful moment at High Point University was getting to interact with real-world businesses. It provided me with an experience that didn’t feel like sitting in the classroom. It gave me the confidence to present and share ideas within a group after graduating.”

These weren’t just classroom concepts, they were practiced through real-world projects that now help me navigate marketing challenges, transform complex requirements into compelling stories and collaborate effectively with colleagues and clients alike.”
What are the values and virtues HPU’s campus helped you develop that you’ll take with you after graduation? “HPU instilled in me the importance of integrity and attention to detail, values that have become cornerstones of my professional identity. Advice for underclassmen: “Take advantage of every project as an opportunity to create tangible examples of your capabilities, whether that’s designing marketing materials, developing social media campaigns, or drafting compelling content. When interviewing, employers valued the specific examples I could share from my HPU experiences far more than generic claims about my abilities.”
