Post-graduation plans: Allison is beginning her career as a Staffing Consultant in Life Sciences for Beacon Hill Staffing Group in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania. As a staffing consultant, she will be finding, interviewing and qualifying job seekers for temporary/contract roles with companies in the life sciences division. From sourcing to placement, Allison will be running the entire recruiting process by engaging in conversations and building relationships through coaching.
How HPU helped you get there: “HPU helped me find my passion. I entered HPU unsure of what I wanted to do with my life, but through academic work, on-campus jobs and extracurricular clubs, I quickly realized that people are my passion. I enjoy helping others and knew I wanted to pursue a career path where I got to do that every day.”
Most impactful mentor at HPU: “One of the most influential mentors I have had during my time at High Point University is Dylan Denning, Assistant Vice President for Student Experience. Ever since I started working with Dylan as a Student Concierge during my sophomore year, she has been a constant source of knowledge, guidance and motivation. Beyond Concierge, I worked with her as the Vice President of Internal Affairs and the Graduate Assistant for the Campus Activities Team. She is someone who truly taught me how to interact with others in a professional and meaningful way. Her leadership style was empowering and supportive as she consistently encouraged me to grow beyond my comfort zone. Thanks to her mentorship, I developed essential interpersonal and professional skills, and more importantly, a sense of confidence and purpose that I will carry forward into my career. I am incredibly grateful for the impact she has had on both my personal and professional development.”
Most impactful moment at HPU: “One of the most impactful experiences at HPU has been my time with the Campus Activities Team. I had the opportunity to plan and oversee campus-wide events such as the annual Winter Wonderland Festival and the Last Day of Classes Earth Day Block Party. These events were an opportunity to put the skills I was learning in the classroom into action. There was not a more real-life experience in a supportive environment I could have asked for!”
Advice for underclassmen: “Get as involved as possible! Go to your classes, but also seek opportunities outside the classroom to apply your knowledge. Your professional self is just as important as your academic self.”
