Name: Alyssa Lovallo, Class of 2027

Hometown: Medford, New Jersey

Major: Chemistry; double minor in Mathematics and Entrepreneurship

Internship plans: Alyssa will be interning at Lockheed Martin this summer as their Materials Test Lab Engineer in Marietta, Georgia.

How HPU helped you get there: “HPU, specifically the Office of Career and Professional Development, helped me form my resume and cover letter so that it was perfect for the application. HPU also gave me the confidence going into the interview process.”

Most impactful mentor at HPU: “My most impactful mentor at HPU is Dr. Lundin, Associate Professor and Associate Director of the Honors Scholars. She helped me every step of the way in onboarding into this role. Dr. Lundin has always supported me in as many ways as possible and I could not be more grateful to have her support while going through such an exciting time.” 

Most impactful moment at HPU: “My most impactful moment at HPU was getting started in undergraduate research to find what I am interested in!”

What has your internship experience been like and how is it preparing you for your future? “I have learned so much in the few weeks that I have been working. Not only have I learned so much about hands-on work, but also how important company culture is. Every day that I come to work, I feel welcomed in an inspiring environment where everyone around me wants to help me learn and grow! I am so lucky to have the privilege to learn from some of the best-in-class professionals!”

How has HPU’s inspiring environment contributed to your success? “Everyone around me is like-minded and strives to be better every day for themselves and the people around them, leaving an encouraging environment.”

What are the life skills HPU helped you develop that prepared you for long-term success? “The life-skills HPU helped me develop were dedication, hands-on learning, commitment, networking and building relationships.”

What are the values and virtues HPU’s campus helped you develop that you’ll take with you after graduation? “One of the values and virtues HPU helped me develop was definitely making connections with those around you because you never know who that person knows!” 

Advice for underclassmen: “Always push yourself to be better every day and don’t be discouraged by statistics!”
