Here’s a quick glimpse at one of many impressive outcomes HPU graduates achieve.
Name: Harper Campbell; Class of 2027
Hometown: Sarasota, Florida
Major: Entrepreneurship; minor in Data Analytics
Internship plans: Harper is interning at the House of Representatives in Washington, D.C. this summer. She is working for Congressman Vern Buchanan (FL-16) as a Legislative Intern. Her daily tasks include answering calls, reading constituent emails, researching legislation and supporting the communications team.
How HPU helped you get there: “HPU provided me with so many additional learning experiences that helped me stand out in the interview process. From practice interviews and professional interview spaces to opportunities such as the conference at West Point through the business fellows program.”
Most impactful mentor at HPU: “My most impactful mentor at HPU is Professor Kathryn Elliott, Director and Professor of the Practice of Entrepreneurship. She is the first professor who really made me understand the value of small class sizes. She is always willing to talk about class work or ideas I am having, and has been very helpful in helping me network around the school and community.”
Most impactful moment at HPU: “One of my most impactful moments at HPU was being a D1 Basketball Manager and getting to experience March Madness with the team. It was incredible to see how all the behind-the-scenes work paid off on such a big stage. The journey reminded me that dedication and consistency truly lead to success.”
How you used Career & Professional Development: “The Office of Career and Professional Development was extremely helpful in helping me look over the details of my application, such as my resume.”
What are the life skills HPU helped you develop that prepared you for long-term success? “I think an interesting thing at HPU is that no matter your major, you are taught to self-reflect and given extra opportunities to set yourself apart. This really helped with my confidence, especially in a job like working for Congress that wasn’t really in line with my major, but I was still able to sell myself for the position.”
Advice for underclassmen: “Put yourself out there. Apply to jobs and internships even if they are out of your reach and connect with as many people as possible. LinkedIn will be your best friend.”
