Post-graduation plans: Alexandra is beginning her career as the Co-Founder of SEALKids, Inc., a nonprofit based in in Dublin, Ohio, that funds disability testing and tutoring help for children of active-duty Navy SEALs.

How HPU helped you get there: “HPU has helped me prepare to do more for the SEALKids nonprofit in many ways. It has given me the foundation needed to help others, as well as consistently grow myself and the organization.”

Most impactful mentor at HPU: “My most impactful mentor at HPU is Dr. Greggory Montague Hundt, professor of psychology. He was my advisor during my time at HPU and became a good friend to me. I was able to work on research projects with him, and he gave me the foundations I needed for research.”

Most impactful moment at HPU: “My most impactful moment at HPU was seeing Mr. Tim at 1924 Prime and he remembered my name. I don’t know why this stuck out to me, but it made me learn that remembering a name can get you farther than you believe.”

How did the Office of Career and Professional Development contribute to your success? “I used the Office of Career and Professional Development to build my resume and LinkedIn. They were very helpful as I was starting out and allowed me to learn more and feel confident.”

What are the life skills HPU helped you develop that prepared you for long-term success? “HPU has given me resources to prepare for life. Specifically, it has given me the chance to learn how to learn, continue to strive for growth and look at the bigger picture of issues.”

What are the values and virtues HPU’s campus helped you develop that you’ll take with you after graduation? “The campus has made me realize what I want in life, simple joys. This includes every aspect but especially work ethic. The campus staff have an amazing attitude and made me realize how important it is to make others feel loved from the first interaction. They made being happy very easy.”

Advice for underclassmen: “The best way to be successful after graduation is to take every opportunity you can while in college. This means student organizations, lunches to connect with professors, having time for others and not just hitting the books.”
