How HPU helped you get there: “High Point University prepared me in so many ways. With the path I took, I was taught to be comfortable in uncomfortable situations. In the workplace, you need to be confident and if I hadn’t faced those situations earlier, I wouldn’t be on this successful path.”

Most impactful mentor at HPU: “My most impactful mentor was Thomas Parker, adjunct instructor in the Department of Accounting and Finance. I took his accounting I and II classes and think he was the best professor I had at HPU. He cares so much about his students and has such a passion for accounting and teaching. He wrote me a letter of recommendation in a heartbeat.”

Most impactful moment at HPU: “Securing my job before graduation and making the dean’s list every semester were meaningful moments. Those proved all the studying and stressful exams were worth it, and I felt really proud of myself.”

How has HPU’s inspiring environment contributed to your success? “I was always so motivated at High Point University. The university presents so many opportunities to grow and develop throughout the four years. I am not the same person I was when I started as a freshman. I am a stronger, smarter and more confident woman because of HPU. “

How did the Office of Career and Professional Development contribute to your success? “I had many one-on-one sessions with The Office of Career and Professional Development my first semester of my senior year. They helped me update my resume, gave me connections and tips and tricks to navigate the job market.”

What are the life skills HPU helped you develop that prepared you for long-term success? “Confidence and leadership. Serving as leadership fellow taught me the importance of having a variety of values to present to teams, and I got to know myself better.”

What are the values and virtues HPU’s campus helped you develop that you’ll take with you after graduation? “HPU taught me strong self-awareness — to know myself, trust myself and grow into the best version of who I want to be.”

Advice for underclassmen: “My advice for underclassmen is to take the steps to secure the job and give the effort. It’s stressful and can be draining at times when some don’t work out but it only takes one yes. Be yourself. Also, enjoy every moment, it goes by so fast.”
