How HPU helped you get there: “HPU gave me hands-on learning experiences from the very start of my education, which taught me how to be adaptable, professional and prepared to excel in my field.”
Most impactful mentor at HPU: “My most impactful mentor at HPU was Tabitha Formon, director of creative services in the Athletic Communications department. During my internship, Tab played a major role in my growth by providing unwavering support and guidance. She was approachable for anything inside or outside my role, and her talent and leadership inspired me to push beyond my comfort zone. Learning from her allowed me to gain experiences I never imagined and helped shape me into the person and photographer I am today.”
Most impactful moment at HPU: “My most impactful moment at HPU was working the NCAA Baseball Regional Tournament hosted in Clemson, South Carolina, alongside the HPU baseball team. The team made its first NCAA appearance and earned its first tournament win with a walk-off over Vanderbilt. This experience was especially meaningful because I had dedicated so much time to the baseball team during my internship in the Athletic Communications department. Capturing moments that will go down in HPU history and in the lives of these athletes was a privilege. Sports are meant to tell a story, and I’m grateful that my photos from this tournament will help tell that story for years to come.”
How did the Office of Career and Professional Development contribute to your success? “I first used the Office of Career and Professional Development during my freshman year to build my resume. The template and advice I received have been invaluable, and I’ve continued to use and refine that same resume throughout my time at HPU and now post-grad as I gain more experience.”
Advice for underclassmen: “Take advantage of every hands-on learning opportunity HPU offers because they are crucial for your future success. HPU provides unique experiences that prepare you for a wide range of career paths, and many of these opportunities happen outside the classroom. If you see something that interests you, put in the work and go for it!”
