Major: B.A. in Event Management with a minor in Social Media Marketing (2024); M.A. in Communication and Business Leadership (2025)
Post-graduation plans: Kyla will be beginning her career as an Events Coordinator for Big Brothers Big Sisters in Worcester, Massachusetts. In her role, she will manage event logistics, communications and sponsorship support while contributing to donor relations and marketing efforts. In addition, she will coordinate event promotions, secure auction items, assist with major fundraisers and support the CEO and board with solicitations and meeting preparation. Kyla will also handle donor data entry, gift processing and acknowledgments to keep fundraising operations running smoothly.
How HPU helped you get there: “HPU truly pulled a shy, introverted girl out of her comfort zone and pushed me to grow into a confident, capable professional. Through hands-on experiences, supportive faculty and countless leadership opportunities, HPU gave me the tools and real-world skills I need to succeed. She consistently pushed me out of my comfort zone, encouraged my growth and helped me become more confident in both my personal and professional abilities. Her support truly shaped my experience and the person I am today.”
Most impactful moment at HPU: “My most impactful moment at HPU was when I completed my first major project that connected directly to my career goals. It made me feel prepared, capable and excited for the future.”
How has HPU’s inspiring environment contributed to your success? “HPU’s inspiring environment played a huge role in my success by surrounding me with motivated peers, supportive faculty and spaces that encouraged me to think bigger. Being on a campus that celebrates growth and professionalism pushed me to raise my own standards and truly believe in what I’m capable of. That atmosphere helped shape my confidence, work ethic and the goals I’m now achieving.”
What are the life skills HPU helped you develop that prepared you for long-term success? “HPU helped me develop essential life skills like confidence, adaptability and professional communication. I learned how to take initiative, build meaningful relationships and thrive in fast-paced, real-world environments. These skills have prepared me for long-term success and continue to guide me in every opportunity I pursue.”
What are the values and virtues HPU’s campus helped you develop that you’ll take with you after graduation? “HPU’s campus helped me develop values of service, integrity and resilience that I’ll carry with me long after graduation. Being surrounded by driven peers and supportive mentors taught me the importance of showing up with purpose, leading with kindness and staying committed to growth. These virtues have shaped how I approach both my career and my relationships.”
Advice for underclassmen: “My advice for underclassmen is to take advantage of every opportunity, get involved, build relationships with professors and seek out internships or hands-on experiences. Don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone, because that’s where the most growth happens. The more you invest in yourself now, the more confident and prepared you’ll feel after graduation.”
