Hometown: Raritan, New Jersey

Major: Business Administration, minor in Social Media Marketing

Post-graduation plans: Mia is beginning her career as a Campus Recruiting Coordinator with Alexander Mann Solutions in Dallas, Texas, to support Goldman Sachs. In her role, Mia manages recruiting operations for the Engineering Division, and coordinates interviews, events and candidate communications.

How HPU helped you get there: “My college experience helped me reach this goal by developing my organizational and communication skills, which are essential in coordinating large-scale recruiting processes. Through coursework and campus involvement, I also learned how to collaborate across teams and manage multiple priorities effectively.”

Most impactful mentor at HPU: “The most impactful mentor I had at High Point University was John Mims, chair and professor of the practice of strategic communication. He was always encouraging and took the time to build genuine personal connections with his students. His support and belief in my potential motivated me to step outside my comfort zone and pursue opportunities with confidence.”

Most impactful moment at HPU: “My most impactful moment at High Point University was graduating magna cum laude after being on the Dean’s List for all eight semesters. It was incredibly rewarding to see my dedication and hard work recognized in such a meaningful way.”

How has HPU’s inspiring environment contributed to your success? “HPU’s inspiring campus created an environment that constantly motivated me to strive for excellence. Being surrounded by driven peers and supportive faculty pushed me to set ambitious goals and follow through on them. That atmosphere of positivity and purpose helped me develop the confidence and determination that have been key to my professional success.”

What are the life skills HPU helped you develop that prepared you for long-term success? “High Point University prepared me with strong networking, communication and organizational skills that I use every day in my role. Through classroom experiences and professional development opportunities, I learned how to build meaningful connections and communicate effectively with diverse groups. HPU also taught me how to stay organized and manage multiple priorities, which has been essential in coordinating recruiting processes at Goldman Sachs.”

What are the values and virtues HPU’s campus helped you develop that you’ll take with you after graduation? “High Point University instilled in me the values of professionalism, integrity and a strong work ethic. The campus culture emphasized kindness, respect and personal responsibility, which shaped how I approach both teamwork and leadership. I’ll carry forward HPU’s commitment to excellence and service, continuing to lead with empathy and purpose in everything I do.”

Advice for underclassmen: “My biggest advice for underclassmen is to network, network, network. It’s truly all about who you know. Take the time to build genuine connections with professors, alumni and professionals in your field. If you already know what career path you want to pursue, start researching that company’s undergraduate programs early. Many organizations recruit ahead of time, and having prior involvement will give you a strong advantage after graduation.”
